Hey everyone, I just registered because of my quickly growing interest in Zcars, primarily the 240Z. I am looking to get one and was wondering what the typical 1/4 and 1/8 mile times are, along with trap speeds and the other typical information involved in drag racing. I realize that they come with L24 engines, the 2.4 liter inline 6, and have read about L28 swaps. If I swapped in an L28, I would want the turbo engine (which is in the 280, right?). A boost controller can be used on this, right? Just trying to learn more before I make a costly mistake, thanks. I did a search and came up with a little, but these are small non time consuming questions so I figured I'd try asking.

No car from the factory looks like a drag car. Drag cars have slicks, skinnies, and blowers out the hood. Hondas dont look like drag cars either, but they are raced all the time. I take all aspects into account when I consider buying a car, not just going around a corner, which is still a big part. A 240z wouldnt be that fun of a car with no power now would it? Stony apparently cares about drag racing, he ran an 11.1 in the 1/4 with a RB26DETT swap. So people do drag race them. Regardless, thanks everyone for the replies, thought they were a little quicker. LOL.

Should be able to use a boost controller on the L28ET. With some work, these motors can push some big numbers. Stock is like 180hp w/ 6psi without an intercooler. Though with an intercooler, the stock turbos are good for 16psi and I think that the stock motor can handle that just fine. You could also get the L28ET stroked to 3.0L or 3.2L if you wanted.

That is one route that can be done, that is an easy swap and wont make you have to start putting holes in your frame. Though some other popular swaps are LS, RB, and SR swaps.

hybridz.org is going to be the place for you. Just make sure that you do your research over there on topics before you post, as the people over there get all pissy if you post about something that has already been posted about.
