green260 Posted August 4, 2003 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2003 hey all new to the forum, ihave a 260z w/ blown engine. i recently found a 79 280zx im going to buy. right now im having a f54 L28 n42 head being rebuilt. its getting .040 bore new bottom end (seals- bearings - rings- pistons-polished krank&balancing)replacing valve seats&guides -etc etc & a mild cam w/ rocker arms:classic: just wondering what it will take to put the rebuilt engine into the 280zx F/I i have all the stuff for carbs out of my 260z (round top SU s) im curious to hear from anyone who has done this if there are any problems w/ the swap or should i stay w/ the F/I on the new rebuild ( f54 L28 /n42) the zx has all power (windows-mirrors etc.) would it be that hard to complete w/ little or no problems. (as w/ the power components) the zx runs ok now but has a stumble or miss at cruising speed ,not on accel, but just going w/ a little pedal .when you mash it it goes fine no stumble, could be wires or dizzy cap or plugs or well you know, all will be replaced in short order when i get my hands on her!anyhoo been reading for months and have taking alot from here any help i can be ,just ask! all your help has been great thanks guys, chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/7323-f54-n42-into-79-zx-fi/ Share on other sites
