August 28, 200321 yr comment_47937 larger 2.5 or 5mph bumpers, more emissions, stronger parts, ie door frames and more reinforcement, more accesories. sound deadening. just this and that hear and there.the 240Z was a bare bones strictly stock sports car. no luxury what so ever. August 28, 200321 yr Author comment_47939 Would it take extensive gutting/stripping to loose 400-500lbs in a 280z? Obviously I wont strip the frame, but what luxurys does it have to spare? August 28, 200321 yr comment_47949 My 77 (that's a 280 here in the states) weighs 2460 with me and a tank of gas. It IS possible to lose weight off a 280 without sacrificing comfort. My car has a full interior, but I removed everything possible. Bumpers, AC, heater core, wiper stuff, spare tire, stereo, speakers. The good thing is, they are considerably stiffer than a 240 and would probably hold up better in an accident. I think a 280 could easily get down to 2200, but you would have to strip the interior.steve77 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/7652-why-does-a-280z-weigh-so-much/#findComment-47949 Share on other sites
