I was wondering what the advantages of keeping the stock 280z 4 speed manual, over the 5 speed are, if any. Basically it's just to convince myself into keeping the 4 speed (and saving my money), but I want you to give me your honest opinion. Thanks as always.

It might come in handy down the road. They don't take up much room when you stand them on the bell housing. It could be the extra $250.00 for the car if you ever sell it. Mostly you should keep it because it came on the car originally.

Advantages are:

Not having to find a 5 speed box and part with the cash to buy it.

Not having to crawl around under the car to remove the old 4 speed and fit the five speed.

Disadvantages:

Not having the high gear for cruising at high speed but with lower engine revs. Might even save some petrol.

Having the sporty state of mind when flooring it through all 5 gears.... priceless.
