I don't feel that we need a separate website or anything, like that, but a separate forum on this site *might" be good IF the 240K guys want one. For myself, I enjoy reading and learning about these "cousins" to the Z. It's not like there are so many of them (members owning one) that they are crowding the Z content of the club.

At the moment there's about 5 of us, as I see it, we're hardly causing problems, there may be the occaisional thread you enter that you don't care about, but surely that happens with alot of things? There's even been people complaining about humour in the humour section.

Anyway my point is this, if you were to create another section on the forum devoted to other Datsuns, you'd cause further interference to things than you would with having the occaisional post to ignore, the 240K shares the powerplant and thusly alot of knowledge can be shared, I try and keep my 240K posts to a minimum as to avoid confrontation, but can you imagine a section devoted to "Other Datsuns" the range that would be covered is immense and I think you'd see a slither of all types creeping in and you would then be disturbed by numerous posts about 4cyl L series engines or A series.

I think the best bet is to leave things "as is" and occaisionally have to close a window you're not really interested in.

:ermm:

Some time in the future I'll be starting a classic Skylines website, it's a funds problem at the moment, which means when I get a job something will be set into motion when that time comes you'll be rid of the majority of the 240K related posts, BUT YOU WONT BE RID OF ME!!! LOL LOL LOL

I own a Z (78 280) and a Z cousin (79 810). I like this site just the way it is because not only is it helpful for my Z but for my 810 as well. The mechanical advice I have found here has been useful for both cars. The roadster site is kind of slow and I think a separate site for the 240K would be also. I only wish there were more 810 owners involved with this site. You think some Z parts are hard to find? Try finding anything other than mechanical parts for an 810.

we're hardly causing problems

I don't think you are causing problems either..to the contrary, I find all of the 240K/skyline posts very interesting. For that reason I think they should be grouped under another forum heading...so that I can find them again!

I think we should create a forum section for other Datsun's. By doing so the posts will be organized in an area that when someone wants to look for something Datsun related but not Z specific, it will be easier to find. I think it could be great way to include all the other cars without things getting out of control in the future.

I don't think poll was meant to seperate the other Datsuns out but more as an attempt to organize things..... That's my thought at least. I enjoy reading the posts and checking out the other cars and wouldn't want them gone from the website.

Just don't go making a forum for that ugly 350Z......

That's my opinion :classic:

I think Michael raises a very important point in that if we have a "Other Datsun" forum then we might end up with a whole load of 120Y owners asking why their ash tray doesnt open properly. If Mike ends up thinking another section is appropriate it might be best if it were entitled "S30 Sister Cars" or something - but it depends if Mike wants this area to expand...

I enjoy reading about all the diffrent info on datsuns 240k, skylines, right hand drive z and so forth. Even thought they aren't all interchangeable I enjoy seeing new ideals and things for all of the datsun line. Gotta love them all , even if they aren't all 240z's :D rather keep it together :geek:

Guys, T

There is no big issue here - every topic in the "Action in the Forums" section has its home under an appropriate Forums folder. All we are really talking about is creating a new folder alongside all of the other folders that will simply be named "Other Datsuns" or "Skylines et al"... Not banishing the skyline brigade to another website!

Its a no-brainer: valid topic=logical forum home. At least that way we will be able to search for skyline-related posts a little more easily.

Just do it.

Searching for ANY model specific info would be easier if people would just include the model designation in the subject line. I'd like to see that happen more often.

As it is, sometimes folks ask questions and don't even bother to mention what model they are referring to at all. Occasionally we can figure it out from a signature line, but not always.
