Y70 head E30 block?

I went and today to take a look at a l28 and was confused by what i saw. This motor had a Y70 head and and E30 block. But the most interesting thing was that the intake manifold was for a single carburation that faced up and not to the side like the Su's. The motor is all original and has no aftermarket parts on it. Is this a common engine or can some one tell me pros and cons to this engine. I was thinking if it is a good motor then i would just put my SU's on it and use it in my 240z.
