  • Zcar Wiki

A Wiki-style database to exchange knowledge about the Zcar and restoration
    • Captain Obvious
Changed the seat rails to a new design
First year for shock absorber mounted bumpers
First year for the carbon canister vapor reclamation system instead of the previous flow guide system.
Minor difference in air cleaner back-plate because they removed the flow guide nipple as now unnecessary
First year for the electronic ignition system using a variable reluctor pickup instead of points
      Mid-Year changes:
Mid-year change to a new larger bumper style that looks more like a 280 than a 240

    • Checking Edit function (Zed Head) The 1977 model year typically has build date of around X/1976 through Y/1977.
A-pillars are now screwed on plastic trim pieces instead of vinyl
Round style Yazaki connectors for most of the body connectors
Different bumpers - Lovingly referred to as "Park Benches"
Windshield wipers painted black from factory
New sheet metal stampings pretty much everywhere
Door locks and catches completely redesigned
Fresh air for foot vents are on both L and R sides and comes from cowl area instead of piped through frame
Space saver inflatable spare instead of the previous full sized spare

    • Test entry covering differences between seat rails of the Z:

      Left, 240Z, 1970-1973  Up to 7/73
      Center 260Z and 75-76 280Z.  (Date range....)  8/73 - 7/76. (?)
      Right 280z 1977-78.   8/76- 78
Rear of the sliders is at the top of the picture. Sorry about that.
240z. Studs in sliders go through holes in seat base. Nut/lock/flat attach (awkwardly !) from underside of metal frame.
260/280 . Round headed hex M8x1.25 chrome bolts attach through slider into captured nuts in seat base frame.
      Notes that come to mind:
Since the way the sliders attach to seat bases is different as well, I should include pictures of the seat bases, but only from the perspective of the way the sliders mount, Not the webbing, or upholstry differences. That’s another thread.

    • test wiki entry

      By Mike, in Zcar Wiki,

testing to see how the wiki works
Edit:  I just edited this entry to see how this is going to maintain the history

zKars just added this entry to see if I can edit it. Clearly I can
Zed Head here - Okay, I see a new thing, the Edit down in the left corner.  Maybe I missed it before.  Yes Mike, it could get messy.  Who knows.
Mike:  I may have to restrict the edits to certain groups.

Adding an image of a very cool car...

This is another illustration of a carb set:
