Posted June 27, 200816 yr comment_252047 This drivers side door-jam area trim piece i need to get replaced. Basically it is on the bottom of the door jam; between the carpet and the metal plate/rubber seal (in the door jam) --- It has interior material on it, although metal underneath. I'm curious what this trim is called. The piece I currently have was rusted out so I removed it. Any idea where I can get it replaced? I can post a photo of the actual trim later on, although i think you guys get the point... Thanks! June 27, 200816 yr comment_252053 It's a rocker panel. I haven't been able to find any without rust. Please let us know if you find one sans cancer and where! June 27, 200816 yr comment_252062 I think he is asking about the interior trim piece that sits on top of the rock panel, and I believe that is called a scuff plate. I only have 240Zs, but I assume it is a similar piece on 280Zs. If you get the parts CD from the club and can get the part numbers you will need to order replacement parts from the dealer.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28562-help-identifying-this-panel/#findComment-252062 Share on other sites
June 27, 200816 yr comment_252063 That isn't the rocker panel, the rocker panel is what is BELOW the piece you removed and underneath that aluminum trim piece on the outside with DATSUN embossed on it.The piece you have removed that pinches the carpet to the rocker panel is called a Scuff Plate. These are typically metal with a vinyl covering. The Vinyl will have the same embossing as the rest of the interior. Not sure if Black Dragon or MSA will have them, but it's worth checking.FWIWE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28562-help-identifying-this-panel/#findComment-252063 Share on other sites

June 27, 200816 yr comment_252065 It looks like the part number is 74933-N3401 (from 11/73 to 7/75). www.nissanparts.cc shows the replacement part number 74933-N4200 at $21.81 each if they are still available.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28562-help-identifying-this-panel/#findComment-252065 Share on other sites

June 27, 200816 yr comment_252069 Are these what you're looking for?It says those are for the 70-73 240z. Are the same ones used on a 75 280z?-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28562-help-identifying-this-panel/#findComment-252069 Share on other sites
June 27, 200816 yr Author comment_252072 Those aren't the same as the 280z scuff plates. 280z version is longer with a different shape tapering off the end. I'll take a snapshot of the one i removed tomorrow. June 27, 200816 yr comment_252075 They should still be available through your local nissan dealer. I got a set late last year. They had to order them of course and get them from Japan, so it took like 2 weeks but with the part number it was no problem. June 27, 200816 yr comment_252076 Thanks for setting me straight, fellas! And Stephan, thanks for that (again)!Honestly, I thought the scuff plate was the stamped "L" shaped aluminum piece on the outboard edge of the sill. What's that thing called then?
